At Pioneer Utility Resources, stories connect us.
At Pioneer’s Cooperative Member Meeting on June 20, 2024, we showcased how Utility Pioneers are sharing stories cooperatively to meet common challenges across the nation. Miss the meeting? Our annual report videos showcase the voices of Utility Pioneers and Pioneer’s team of utility storytellers.

We also celebrated the way stories connect us on:
Pioneer’s D’Avanzo Communications Leadership Award honors an individual for outstanding service to Utility Pioneers. Read about the impact of this year’s winners, Shelley Paik and Lisa Fannin, here.
SVP Member Solutions Anne Harvey talks about strategic shifts over the last year to better serve our members.
Pioneer announced co-op member credits of $729,577, representing a 5.7% return on members’ eligible spending with Pioneer in 2023. Checks will reach utility members in July or early August. Twenty Utility Pioneers, many of which partner with Pioneer on both communications and efficiency programs, will receive more than $10,000 each.
Election results were shared at the meeting, too. As a utility-owned communications cooperative, Pioneer depends on members to guide the co-op. Pioneer’s Board of Directors meets throughout the year to oversee the co-op’s strategic plan and financial health. Three board seats were up for election in 2024:
- District 1, an at-large position representing all members
- District 4, representing members in California and Oregon,
- And District 7, representing members in six Southeast states.
Incumbents Sean Vanslyke, Libby Calnon and Brad Kimbro ran for reelection and were unopposed.

We call our members Utility Pioneers because they are not afraid to forge new paths, build innovative ways to share their stories and connect with the communities they serve.
“Stories connect us to each other, to the people we serve and to our combined potential.”
