When you got your job in the utility world, they were there to show you the ropes. You look for them at every conference, knowing they’ll connect you to the people and ideas you need to succeed. They are our industry connectors, the people who see this not as a job, but as a calling.
Help Pioneer recognize servant leaders in our industry by nominating them for D’Avanzo Communications Leadership Award. This award honors an individual for outstanding service to Utility Pioneers, with a focus on:
- Communication skills
- Industry leadership
- Mentorship
- Community service
Think of people who have been in our industry for 10 years or more, setting a standard for storytelling and inspiring peers. How has their work helped rural broadband, electric and telco utilities? What sets them apart?
Nominations are due May 22, 2024. Nominees must:
- Work at a Pioneer-member utility or broadband provider in a communications or marketing role. Exceptions will be made for communicators at utilities working with Pioneer through statewide or G&T programs, such as magazines or social media programs, where the association or G&T is a Pioneer member.
- Have at least 10 years of combined service time employed at telcos, electric utilities, broadband providers, statewide associations or industry vendors.
- Self-nominations or nominations coming in after the deadline will not be considered.

Nominations will be reviewed by a committee of Pioneer staff and evaluated based on communication skills, industry leadership, mentorship and community service. The winner will be announced at Pioneer’s Cooperative Member Meeting on June 20, 2024.
