Web Transition Questions and Answers

We are excited about the next chapter for Pioneer’s web services and confident our new program will deliver the quality and service you expect, along with new functionality and expanded support. Transitions can lead to uncertainty and questions so we’ve prepared this FAQ page in order to help be clear and transparent.

Pioneer Web Transition FAQs

Powerful informed Pioneer of its decision to cancel our contract and to step away from our cooperative partnership to offer its services directly to the market. We respect their decision and are excited to now offer our own robust website service, called Pioneer Web, to support your organization moving forward.

We’ll make sure the transition process is as easy and stress-free as possible for you. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Complete your interest form by Feb. 13. This gives us the green light to get started assessing your site. Click here.
  • Meet with our team. We’ll schedule a 30-minute conversation to walk through your questions and discuss your site’s unique needs, priorities and even changes.
  • Complete minor paperwork. We will provide an authorization form to document your decision to remain with Pioneer.
  • Page-for-page transition. Your site will be transitioned page by page, ensuring your links, files and features are preserved.
  • Testing and quality checks. Before launching, we’ll thoroughly test your site to ensure everything works as expected.
  • Launch with support. Once your site is live, we’ll support content updates and provide training until you’re ready to manage updates on your own. If you prefer, as many do, continued help, you can opt for ongoing support via our Web Assist service for ongoing support.

No. You have a choice. If you decide not to utilize Pioneer Web, you may terminate your current website contract with Pioneer by notifying us at web@pioneer.coop. You would then work directly with Powerful Web, or another provider of your choice, for ongoing website services. This will require a new billing arrangement.

With your approval, we will further assess your site to make sure it can be transferred successfully before our partnership ends with Powerful.

Visually and functionally, your website will look the same, page for page, unless of course, you’re ready for a change. What really matters though, is the foundation behind it:

  • Stronger security and reliability: Enterprise-grade hosting, daily backups, and proactive security monitoring is a given, not an add-on with Pioneer Web.
  • Built-in accessibility: Pioneer Web sites are built to ADA (WCAG 2.1) standards, and any updates made by our Pioneer Web team will sustain that compliance.
  • Easier site management: User-friendly tools that allow you and your staff to update content, post news, jobs and alerts without technical expertise.
  • Freedom to grow: Site refreshes are both easy and affordable, so you can evolve your site right along with technology.
  • Digital advertising support: Easy creation of campaign landing pages plus more options for analytics and performance tracking.
  • Trusted support: Your Pioneer Account Manager can support your web needs, from support tickets to ongoing updates and questions.
  • More choice: Flexible options beyond templates, including custom pages and AI-powered features like secure chat bots.

Pioneer Web includes all the core features you’ve come to rely on: website design, development, hosting, maintenance and ongoing support. If you currently receive webmaster support, this feature will automatically continue with our Pioneer Web Assist service for the same price. For our members who do not receive webmaster support, we will still ensure a smooth transition, providing comprehensive training and handling content updates until you’re ready to do so on your own. After training is complete, you may choose to manage updates independently or opt in to Pioneer Web Assist for ongoing support.

Your site will look and feel virtually identical to visitors and consumers. After the transition is complete, we’re happy to work with you on design changes or upgrades if you’re interested. Additional design work will be quoted separately.

You may see a short-term fluctuation in search rankings following a migration. We will take all necessary steps to protect SEO throughout the process, and most sites will see rankings bounce back to normal, or even improve, once the search engines complete reindexing.

Yes. If you own your site domain, your URLs (the addresses visitors use to access pages on your site) will move with your site. If Powerful Web owns or manages your domain, you’ll work directly with them to transfer domain ownership/management. Powerful has an established process in place to support this transfer.

Downtime will be short (less than an hour in most cases), carefully coordinated, and scheduled outside of normal business hours

We take the cooperative value of Autonomy and Independence seriously, which means that your website is just that, yours, with no proprietary features that can’t be replicated. Pioneer Web is pulling back the curtain and making sure you have the access and know-how to take as much control of your website as you’d like.

Pioneer Web’s security is best in class. Detailed information will be shared via link with you and your IT Team after the Interest Form is completed. If they have additional questions, send us an email at web@pioneer.coop.

Yes. You can transition your site to Pioneer Web at any time.

To support a smooth transition, Pioneer is offering a limited number of no-cost site transitions through April 19, 2026. If you move at a later date, there will be an added cost. We will share more details as they are available.

Pioneer can continue to serve as your marketing and communications partner, supporting content creation, strategy and recommendations. However, we will be unable to coordinate site updates or support tickets on your behalf. You’ll work directly with Powerful on website updates, technical changes and support tickets. As noted above, a new contract with Powerful will also be required.

No. There is no cost to transition through April 19, 2026, and your current monthly rate stays the same. If you’re interested in a site refresh or upgrades, that work will be quoted separately.

So long as you remain a member, you will still be eligible to vote in board elections, and any patronage you’ve earned remains yours. As a reminder, Pioneer’s long-standing practice is to pay 100% of allocated patronage in the year after it is earned. So, your current capital balance is only your non-refundable $10 membership fee.

Yes! Pioneer Web is offered under the Pioneer umbrella, allowing you to receive all your services under one roof. It is a full-service website offering that includes development, hosting, maintenance and ongoing support all delivered under our cooperative model.

No. Your footer art is yours. It will transition with your site, and you’re free to use it for other purposes.

The time required to complete transition varies by site. It is at least partially dependent upon minimal but timely communication with clients/members, as well as on establishing the optimal moment for a brief but necessary downtime. Nonetheless, all transitions will be complete by April 19th, and many will be done much sooner. A target completion date will be supplied when we meet with you.

Given the tight timeline for transitioning your site, and to ensure an efficient, high-quality result, in-flight changes will be kept to a minimum. You will have the option of not porting over pages and content that you no longer consider relevant, of course. Along the way, we will work with you to notate any additional desired changes, and shortly after your site transition is complete, will collaborate with you to plan and provide discounted pricing for those enhancements.

Please promptly complete the expression of interest form here by Feb. 13, following which we will get back to you shortly to schedule our discussion.
