Shelly Hansel

Shelly Hansel is the Director of Strategic Relations for SCTelcom, an internet service provider serving South Central Kansas—including Barber, Harper, Kingman, and Pratt Counties—as well as communities in Northern Oklahoma such as Burlington and Byron.

Her career reflects a deep commitment to community leadership and development. Before joining SCTelcom, Shelly held several influential roles: Community Development Director for Harper County, Mayor of Wellington, KS, Community Leadership Program Director at the Kansas Leadership Center, and Executive Director of the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/Convention and Visitors Bureau.

A proud Wellington native, Shelly graduated from Wellington High School and earned her Journalism degree from the University of Kansas. She went on to spend more than two decades in television news and radio broadcasting, working in Topeka, Wichita, and Phoenix, Arizona.

Today, Shelly continues to champion rural communities through her service on multiple boards, including the South Central Kansas Economic Development District (SCKEDD), the Western Kansas Rural Economic Development Association (WKREDA), and most recently, the National Foundation for Rural Services, where she helps raise awareness and funding for rural broadband initiatives.

Above all, Shelly treasures her role as a mother to three incredible children: Carson (26), Elise (23), and Vohn (16).
