Krista Bouchey

Krista Bouchey has spent her career turning community connection into meaningful change. She currently serves as Manager of Communications at Orcas Power and Light Cooperative (OPALCO), a member-owned electric cooperative powering 20 islands across the Salish Sea.

Krista leads the co-op’s messaging through storytelling, digital strategy, and community outreach — with a little help from her infamous brand ambassador, Pepper, the first canine energy influencer. Her work spans innovative renewable energy campaigns, a full co-op rebrand, and crafting the narratives behind some of the complex issues facing the energy industry today.

Her background in nonprofit leadership informs how she approaches staff and member engagement, always grounding strategy in data-driven results. Beyond her day job, Krista serves on the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce Board and volunteers with local youth development organizations. When she’s not telling OPALCO’s story, she’s out on the Salish Sea on a sailboat, hiking island trails with Pepper, and scouting his next great photo op.
