We’ve all seen them out there — sharp magazine covers, window clings that make your heart sing, a website you can’t tear your eyes away from.

Content. In the WILD!

In our friendly photo competition’s third year, we’re asking Utility Pioneers to help us identify creative content in the wild.

Send us or tag us in a selfie showcasing print and/or digital projects created with support from Pioneer and/or one of our family of service partners (Powerful, Efficiency Services Group, General Pacific and/or NewsData). Your content could be banners, yard signs, a podcast, a magazine, social content, efficiency kit, community booth, vehicle wrap … you get the picture (literally and figuratively).

You’re entered into a random drawing every Thursday from Sept. 21 to Oct. 26, 2023.

Each week we will send one winning Utility Pioneer a $50 REI gift card!

Six folks will win, but we’re all winners when we share content ideas and support cooperation.

Excited? We hope so. Here are a few tips to help you have fun with the contest.

1. Find creative content

Covington Electric Member Services Representative Kimyola Shine is one of Pioneer’s Content in the Wild contest winners. Her picture includes both the coloring book and a door hanger used for new service communities.

Maybe you wrapped a utility car with your story, or you use a billboard to shout your story from the rooftops. What kind of content will you catch? That’s up to you. Just make sure it’s something you created with Pioneer’s team of utility storytellers.

Each photo should feature a person — a utility communicator or another WILLING staff member — with content created by partnering with us. Examples of content in the wild includes electric and broadband magazines, ESG’s consumer care kits, apparel, banners, a wrapped car (or unwrapped, though it’s not as fun), social media posts and websites.

For physical items, please show a person holding or interacting with the item. For digital work, show a person next to a computer or mobile device screen with the work displayed. Don’t be afraid to go wild with this. We love seeing big smiles and fun poses!

2. Framing is everything

Make sure we can see you and the captured content!

  • Pose in front of the content in your office or in your community. Sharing digital content like a website or social post? Pose with the content showing on your laptop or computer or pull up a social post on your smartphone and have someone else take your picture.
  • While creativity doesn’t give you extra points, it sure does make us smile and may earn you a featured spot in our blog, social media, etc.

3. Share captured content

Post it on social and tag us @UtilityPioneers or email the selfie to hello@pioneer.coop. Include:

  • Pictured person’s name, title and utility.
  • A short description of the content and how it helps share your story.
  • Email address and telephone number.
  • Type “I captured content in the WILD!” in the subject line.
  • Please only send digital JPEG or PNG files.
  • Photos should be horizontal, or landscape format, and at least 300 dpi at 6 inches tall.
  • Our server hates files larger than 10 MB. We’ve sent it to server therapy, but we’re still waiting for a breakthrough.

4. No limits!

The more selfies you take, the better your chances of winning. Each person can only win once, but two different people at a utility could each win, if they’re lucky.

5. Be aware, we plan to share!

By entering the contest, you give Pioneer Utility Resources and our family of services partners permission to share your photo on our website, social media channels and all other digital or print materials. You also agree that you will strike a pose with us when we take a selfie with you when we’re together in person!

Our first winner will be announced Sept. 21. Send your selfie today for your chance to win!
