Leon Espinoza

SVP, Content

Leon, who lives to help others shine, is privileged to guide a stellar cast of leaders and doers in publishing, social media and design here at Pioneer. The work is mission for Leon and his teams.

Before joining Pioneer in 2017, Leon spent nearly three decades at The Seattle Times, where he was an assistant managing editor who upheld standards, embraced digital innovation and guided the editing and presentation of Pulitzer Prize winning work. Since coming aboard Pioneer, Leon and his teams have dreamed big as they’ve reimagined content, launched new products, connected audiences and embraced fresh ways of storytelling and engagement.

Leon serves as Vice President of the National Electric Cooperatives Statewide Editors Association, which represents electric cooperative magazines across the U.S. Leon, a punster at heart who never misses the chance to deliver a Dad Joke or play on words, holds a BA in Communications from California State University, Fullerton, along with a Minor in Psychology, which he notes comes in handy.

Leon and his wife, Michelle, love spending time with their three grown kids, Courtney, Lauren, and Eric and two son-in-laws, Brenton and Kyle.
